What We Do

We provide CFSP certified design documentation for:

  • fire sprinkler systems
  • fire detection and alarm systems
  • fire hydrant / hose reel systems

We can also provide;

  • peer review and endorsement of documentation prepared by other designers
  • peer review and endorsement of documentation prepared by other CFSP’s to support a 164B application for exemption to allow systems to be modified to superseded regulations.

In addition, we can offer our consultancy services as technical support to assist clients such as building managers with ensuring the design, installation and operation of the fire services systems within their buildings are achieving compliance with the relevant regulations.

Competent Fire Safety Practitioner (CFSP)

What is a CFSP and how could a CFSP help me?

Regulation of the fire services industry in NSW has been undergoing significant change recently with the intention of increasing the level of overall industry competence and the level of community confidence in what we do. An important part of this move has been the implementation of the FPA Australia Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme for industry members to prove their competence in their specific fields of expertise. We are a strong supporter of the FPA Australia and in particular of their drive for continual improvement of the fire protection industry.

As noted on the NSW Government website (06/01/2020);

“NSW Minister for Better Regulation, Kevin Anderson, has advised industry practitioners that from April 2020 (now 01/07/2020), only persons accredited as competent fire safety practitioners under the Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS) will be authorised to endorse plans and specifications of fire safety systems.”
“The functions required to be undertaken by a competent fire safety practitioner include endorsement of the plans and specifications for installation or modification of hose reels, hydrants, sprinkler systems, fire detection and alarm systems as complying with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) prior to instalment, as part of new building work for which a construction certificate or complying development certificate has been issued.”

As of 01 July 2020 individuals holding the FPAS accreditation will be formally recognised as Competent Fire Safety Practitioners (CFSP’s) under NSW regulation. As of May 2020 only 126 individuals were registered as holding FPAS design accreditation (ref FPA Australia industry newsletter 01/05/2020).
